The India Meteorological Department has issued orange, yellow, and brief red alerts across Delhi-NCR, warning of thunderstorms and rain. With shifting weather patterns and falling temperatures, regions including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Meerut brace for potential disruptions.
In a significant escalation, outer regions of the National Capital Region, particularly Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, were briefly placed under a red alert as skies turned grey across multiple areas, signaling the likelihood of severe weather conditions. According to the India Meteorological Department, areas under a red alert may experience moderate to severe thunderstorms, while orange alert regions are likely to witness moderate thunderstorm activity. Regions under a yellow alert are expected to receive light rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung on Thursday morning. The weather department has forecast thunderstorms with rain at isolated locations later in the day.
Temperature readings from other monitoring stations indicated slight variations, with Palam recording a minimum of 24.9 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road at 23.6 degrees Celsius, Ridge at 25 degrees Celsius, and Ayanagar at 24.1 degrees Celsius.
